Blake Lively Tribute

Gossip Girl fashionista Blake Lively is the new face of Chanel's Mademoiselle Hand Bag. Since the days of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Lively has dramatically changed her style and is now a fashion icon. She says she does not even employ a stylist, and always dresses herself. Of course she has gotten many other offers to be the face of different designers but waited for Chanel to ask her. Her style is very classic and beautiful. She often wears clothes straight off the runway, and pulls it off with grace.

I am not wearing pants right now

It is 9:53 on a Saturday morning, I am in drivers ed, and I am not wearing pants. What I mean to say is I am wearing leggings and a massive blue sweater. And nothing else. This is a first for me. And you know what? I have never been more comfortable. So to everybody I've ever made fun of for not wearing bottoms, I am very sorry. I totally get it now. I was just told that if a squirrel jumps out in front of my car I should not swerve, that such violent evasive actions are not advisable. So I have given up on educating myself for the moment, and here are some saturday-morning-wearing-leggings-I-can't-believe-I-am-here-learning-how-to-kill-squirrels photos.

Tattoos!

Recently, there has been a rise in tattoos in the younger generation. What is so appealing about permanently branding oneself, especially at such a young age? And how are these younger people beating the system and getting tattoos before they are legally allowed to? Some parents agree to take their kid to a tattoo parlor, but of course, many do not. Should tattoo parlor's be more careful about who they let get tattoos, or are teenagers under 18 old enough to decide what they want inked on their skin forever? The appeal of tattoos is clear: They are beautiful, bad ass, and interesting. They are the ultimate element of personal style. However the counter argument is clear: regret. Most people think about the tattoo they want for a long time before they actually get it, and end up not regretting their tattoos at all. But of course, some tattoos are regrettable. Here are some tattoos on CA students:

Looking for Something Out of the Ordinary? Check out Oonas

Oonas, located just outside of Harvard Square (1210 Mass Ave), has been revamped by a former CA alumnae, Eleanor Mueller. Mueller closed Oonas this summer for a renovation, and the new space is now open and organized, while still maintaining it's quirky charm. While Oonas was once a haven for halloween costumes and oversized army jackets, it is now home to some very lovely (and cheap!) vintage clothing. Everything, from fifties dresses to fake fur coats, is intact and immaculate, with prices usually in the twenty to one hundred dollar range. Personally, I found this nice striped shirt on one of the racks outside for a steal at only five dollars.

Dandy heartily suggests that you check out Oonas for some cute fall fashions.

What is Dandy you ask?

Welcome to the 2010/2011 school year. It's been a while since Dandy has posted anything, and we decided a brief reminder of what exactly Dandy is might be helpful. We are Concord Academy's fashion and style blog, and currently we need help. Facing a daunting senior year our editors need articles or photo spreads about anything style related; all you have to do is email Anna Bang or Amelia Fitch with your ideas and it will be easy peasy from there. So welcome freshmen, and welcome back everyone else, embrace your inner style icon and submit to Dandy today!

P.S. Look for us at Club Expo, as we have some wonderful surprises up our sleeves
